Spruce Grouse at Moose Bog

By josh • Nature, Wildlife • 8 May 2012

Grouse?  Grouses?  Grice?  Anyway, there were two of them along the Moose Bog trail in Ferdinand when co-conspirator Sam and I visited this past Saturday.  I’ll do a more complete Ferdinand post (with more on the spruce grouse) in the future, but for now, here are a few shots of the male on his lek and the very solicitous female.

Spruce Grouse (male)

Spruce Grouse (female)

Spruce Grouse (female)

Please click on that last one to see it in a bigger size- the detail in her feathers is worth it.
