Fence Sitters

About this time last year I wrote about the wonderment you can find along Lagoon Road in Hinesburg in the spring.  The flooded fields are again full of shorebirds, though the fields on the east side of the road have really been trammeled by cattle more this spring than last.  A visit this week (this time with O, sound asleep in the back seat) found an excavator repairing the road near the wastewater ponds.  The meadows and pastures along the road would have to suffice, but they did not disappoint.  I found meadowlarks, bobolinks, swallows, least and spotted sandpipers, killdeer (with chicks!), and even a peregrine falcon.  I also managed a few decent shots of some of the birds that use the fenceposts along the road.  Sadly O slept through through the whole show.
